Schedule update and end of April news

Hi Everyone!
Shop is going to close a little early tomorrow afternoon, around 4-4:30 ish, but open Saturday for regular hours.

The last Saturday of this month (4/30) is Local Yarn Shop day. Here's what I have planned: We're going to start a summer sweater knit-a-long, there are several patterns that are favorites, among them the Etta sweater (first two photos), the Oneida Sweater(third photo), the Anker Summer shirt and Marisol. All of them are well suited to Summer Sesame (Etta and Marisol were actually designed for it) but Papaguyo and Remix Light as well as Wool Pop would be great choices as well. I've made Etta and loved it; I used Papaguyo which is a little crisper yarn than Summer Sesame, but I liked the pattern well enough I'd make it again and try it in Summer Sesame.  Alta, one of my customers, has already done it in Summer Sesame, the two sweaters are shown below. I worked Oneida in Summer Silk - it's impossibly soft and lovely against the skin. If you have a Ravelry account check out Anker's Summer Shirt, it's an elegantly simple broken rib in concentric circles - it's definitely on my list. Marisol can also be seen on Ravelry and is worked in flattering knitted panels.

On LYS day we will also be creating little button flower pots as a fundraising for a local non-profit.  Customer Jody donated the materials - we have enough for 19.  The cost of this is a suggested $10 donation to the Community Care Collaborative which is a community impact program within the Albemarle Area United Way.  Manager Kelly Hoetzel will be on hand to talk about the amazing success we have had with this program. Refreshments will be served.

Hours April 30th are 9-1, unless we are having too much fun in which case we'll just stay later.  If you want to participate in the crafting session please let me know by sending an email to coastalpurl@gmail.com. Let me know as well if you want to join the KAL, again email is fine, and for those of you who are out of town, I am happy as always to text pictures of yarn and answer any questions you may have about its weight, content, yardage and so forth.

Lastly, I am adding Urth Yarn to my shop - the first shipment will arrive from Turkey this coming week! I'm really excited to add this exquisite yarn to my collection - stay tuned for pictures when it arrives!

Kind regards,
Katherine
